IDS Imaging Development Systems GmbH recommends to adjust the power supply to the power requirement of the camera to limit overheating in case of short circuit. To ensure electrical safety, the power supply must meet the requirements for LPS (Limited Power Source) according to EN 60950-1 or class 2 according to UL 1310.

For information on the camera's power consumption, see Camera and sensor data chapter.

hint_attention

Note on power supply of the camera

The camera can be supplied with voltage both from an external source and via Power-over-Ethernet (PoE). The camera should not be supplied through both voltage sources at once as this can irreparably damage the camera.

hint_attention

Note on power supply with long cables

Please keep in mind that a voltage drop will occur when you use long cables for power supply to the camera. Choose the size of the cable in such a way that the supply voltage available at the input of the camera is at least 12 V.

hint_info

Note on power supply via Power-over-Ethernet (PoE)

To supply the GigE uEye camera with power using PoE or PoE+, you can use PoE injectors or switches that are compatible with IEEE standard 802.3af or IEEE standard 802.at.

The GigE uEye cameras register to the PoE class 2 (3.84-6.49 W). Depending on the operating mode, a camera can also consume less than 3.84 W.
