Special features UI-3013XC

uEye Camera Manual Version 4.92

Special features UI-3013XC

The UI-3013XC comes with built-in auto focus and offers many special features that are not available with other camera models. In this chapter, you will find an overview of the different features.

Autofocus system

The UI-3013XC features a built-in autofocus system that is fixed to the sensor. It has a horizontal viewing angle of 53° in live mode and 58° in snapshot mode. It can sharply focus as close as 10 cm, either automatically or manually (via software). An integrated API function (is_Focus()) allows setting the focus automatic or manual.

Image sizes

The UI-3013XC transfers live images in different sizes up to FullHD 1080p resolution (1920 x 1080 pixels) at 30 frames per sec. The CMOS sensor of the UI-3013XC provides a resolution of 13 megapixels. The full image size of 4192 x 3104 pixels is available in snapshot mode.

The UI-3013XC transfers uncompressed YUV color images. The UI-3013XC provides separate functions for setting the sharpness (is_Sharpness()) and color saturation (is_Saturation()).

Face detection

The UI-3013XC can detect and track up to 8 different faces in real-time image acquisition mode. Overlay boxes mark the detected faces in the camera image to show you their positions. For each detected face, the DSP calculates the position coordinates, the size, facial orientation angle, and head posture. An integrated API function (is_FaceDetection()) allows reading out this data or using a face as the field of view for automatic brightness control.

Digital zoom

The wide aperture angle of the UI-3013XC captures a field of view that suits most applications. But you can also zoom in on a smaller area of interest by using the digital zoom (is_Zoom()) feature. This feature allows nearly continuously variable zooming with zoom factors from 1 to 16.

Image stabilization

The image stabilization (is_ImageStabilization()) function of the UI-3013XC helps reduce blurred images caused by camera movement and vibration. The correction is performed electronically by the camera's DSP, which detects and compensates undesired movement.

hint_info

If you have mounted the camera (e.g. on a stand) so that it is vibration-free, you should disable the image stabilization function. Otherwise, slight image background movement could occur.

Image controls

As opposed to the other uEye camera models, the UI-3013XC carries out all automatic image controls (is_SetAutoParameter()) internally. This has the advantage that the auto white balance, auto exposure and auto gain (Auto ISO) functions respond very quickly.

With the optional auto contrast correction and backlight compensation functions, you can adjust the automatic controls in detail.
